What tubes do you prefer in your preamp?
Looking for inspiration to tube rolling my C500T that is in the way to me.
Right now i have Telefunken smooth plate with the "diamond" mark at the bottom. Is that a good tube for this preamp or should i try some else?

Durable tubes.

Gold Lion 12AX7 with gold pins. Very robust and a romantic midrange.

I too run the C500. I like the Tele's and Mullard F91 Longplates and 10M's, all of which can get pricey. By a fair margin I prefer the Gold Brand Sylvania 5751 Triple Mica Black plates. Incredibly 3D and holographic, huge soundstage, wonderful focus and air and very musical.

I have had great success with Brent Jesse http://www.audiotubes.com/. His website offers invaluable information and Brent really knows his stuff. Pricey but hi quality with guarantee.

I have purchased the bulk of my fairly large NOS collection from a great local source to me in AZ. He calls himself Arizona Tube Supply and has an Ebay store. His direct email address is Dave Hollander: n7rk@cox.net

I also recommend a seller in LA by the name of Steve Song. He advertises quite a bit on US Audiomart and seems to have an unending supply of wonderful NOS Mullards...mC1's, F-91 Longplates (my favorites) and Telefunken smooth plates.
