Default Is the DA2 DAC available for upgrading yet?

Has anyone upgraded the DAC yet? How much is the part? Is it end-user swappable?

I emailed Ron Cornelius with that very question when the C53 came out (super nice guy BTW), he told me that they do not yet have a plan but will offer that some time in the future.

Weird. One would think being “modular” they would have thought that out prior to launching.

I always thought of DAC module upgradabilty like upgrading your phones OS. It seems to do the same thing as the newer phones but not as well.

That’s what I thought. The email I received from Ron regarding the DA2 was on 7/25/19 so that is recent information.

I am hoping it wasn’t Kool-Aid we have been drinking since the announcement of modular DAC units.

I still remember when Mac introduced their MX150 and MVP871, both including Ethernet ports. As dealers, we were told this would be used for periodic upgrades; we were very excited.

Not a single update/upgrade ever came down via the Ethernet port. Years later, the story changed; it was designed for diagnostics.

Just saying...

I know we've beaten this horse to death and that the situation has improved, but Mc still seems quite behind the times in the digital realm when it comes to upgradeability. Which seems ridiculous considering my old Oppo DVD player (not even blu-ray) had Internet firmware upgrades from day one. Mc acts like firmware is top secret and must be handled by your dealer. But I digress....

I do hope people who bought into the DAC module concept are actually able to upgrade.
