Default Thank you France

Three helicopters showered one million rose petals on the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor today for the 70th anniversary of D-Day. The rose petals were organized by the group The French Will Never Forget.

Thank you France for remembering the United States of America on this solemn day.

I am so happy to read that some french people did this. I would have been more happy to read that this was made by the french government.

I was a few days ago in Normandy. The souvenir of the DDay is everywhere there.

Thank You USA, GREAT BRITAIN, CANADA. We are free because of the sacrifice of your braves. 150 000 braves. May their Memory be Blessed.

WE WILL NEVER, EVER FORGET.
OUR GRATITUDE IS FOR EVER.

Thats a fine gesture

Although I'm "only" 45, I was adopted by a much older couple than is normal, and my father was in the war, although not part of the D-Day landing (he was coming up through Italy). The last two things he went to (as a 90 year old!) were the Cenotaph memorial & his regimental re-union. So when I heard of this chap yesterday, I had a smile to myself, that generation was something else

+One!

One more way to show our gratefulness to the braves, who gave their lives or fought to bring back freedom and preserve democracy in our lands, is to carry on our democratic rights such as the simple one to vote!

That's what I use to explain to my children who live in a peaceful land, each time I have the opportunity to do it.

So many thanks to you, so young and older braves!

The courageous way you grasped the nettle on that D-Day makes me feel humble, grateful and indebted for ever.

Bertrand

I was deeply, deeply moved by the coverage on UK news channels yesterday. The love, affection and gratitude of the French people towards the Old Soldiers was immense.

Wow that's an awesome gesture. I feel proud right now.

I couldn't say it better than Jerome.

BTW the USA / France relationship is a long and complex friendship which is interesting to study. Don't forget we're your closest neighbour to the West
