Good point.

What I've heard so far is that the development of the new series was launched in 2007!
It seems to be a complete re-design or even partly new development. The attendants of the presentation were positively impressed.

B&W should have named the new 800 series the 900, 17.000 euro per pair for the 803...new Marlin head or not that just doesn't feel right...It will be interesting to follow the sales figures for the new series, crunch time for B&W

So your reliable source is tellng you that the current 803d that costs $10,000 retail here in USA with a 10% difference in exchange rate brings us to 11,000 and a load of 55% for the new speaker is what to expect ????

Am I thinking through this correctly.

I hope they don't look like the old Kef's from the late 2000's Reference 207 line. :icon_thumbsdown

Just my opinion.

Two separate dealers told me the following prices in euro per pair:

804 : 11.000
803 : 17.000
802 : 24.000
800 : 30.000

According to them they look and sound completely different, the new 803 with the marlin head is better than the current 802 Diamond. Kevlar is gone.
From a dealer standpoint the main concern is that the price difference between the new 800 and everything under is huge. They expect an upgraded line to fill the void.

Only time (and a listen...) will tell if B&W made the right decision to increase the prices this much...
