Default Cooling Fans?
I am installing a built in cabinet in my media room and now added two dedicated power lines (based on other AA members recommendations). My question is do I need to add a fan in the cabinet because I plan to have glass front doors? MacIntosh gear seems to run cool so I am not sure if it is needed, but if it so what do I need to buy...

Josh.......Is the cabinet going to be fully enclosed, that is closed back and sides as well as front doors? If so, ventilating the cabinet with a fan and an air inlet louver would be a wise move. All gear generates heat, and we know that heat is the enemy of electronics.

Josh, Dan is right on. You might have HKVal point you to his thread detailing how he added a fan to his racks. A very nice job it was.

The cabinet will be fully enclosed (I could have it built without doors...). Ok I will look into ventilating the cabinet with fans... Thanks Dan!

Josh.......I suggest using a fan as an exhust of the cabinet's air, and a vent on the opposite side to allow cool air to be drawn in. The fan can be controlled with a speed control to slow it down to absolute minimun noise levels while still providing necessary air flow to maintain a comfortaable operating temperature for the gear. Visit coolerguys.com for fan and speed control ideas.

Hi, Have a look at Noctua (Brand) Fans--I use these and found to be the quietest.

Do you think that glass doors will cause a reflection of sound and harm the sound stage? I also was planning to hang a large LCD TV 80" between the speakers (thinking about moving away from my projector) Is this too much "Glass" between the speakers????
