Default "Social Credit" System is becoming a reality in China
If anyone has seen the Black Mirror series on Netflix, one of the episodes covers a very similar future society where social credit rules your life. Evidently it is becoming a reality in China... Voluntary now but mandatory by 2020.
Man I feel sorry for the future of our civilization with all this technology. Imagine walking around with the equivalent of your credit score on your forehead for everyone to see and judge you. Well, it will be more than just that... Citizens will be evaluated based on choices, actions and "ranked" accordingly... Sounds like a nightmare

I’m very familiar with that Black Mirror episode and it was so real and relevant that it scared the bejeesus out of me. Oh no!!!!

So am I. I found it to be the darkest and most disturbing of the Black Mirror episodes, which is saying a lot.

Well, this is not far from the system China had with the one-child policy. The
punishment for violating it put people in a second-class society in where it was
impossible to find jobs, get married and basically be ashamed for life without being in jail.

I have to watch the episode to get a feel, but after reading the article it sounds
disturbing, yes, like a sick Orwell sequel not so far in the future.

A system like that also drove the people to actually drown their newborn baby girls in villages... Any government that oppresses people and rewards them for being snitches, rats and otherwise "role model" citizens will ultimately tear out all of the humanity left in people. History is full of those examples in many countries.
How does one choose friends or a spouse based on social credit? For the score alone? Might as well be robots then.
