Default MX-R Twenty Amp Stands?

I would probably try the blocks before the stillpoints.

I’m debating with myself whether I can live with the aesthetics of the wood blocks. I cannot justify the price on the still points.

Ultra SS under my MX-Rs was a solid improvement. While I plan to use ultra SS under my Sophias, the ultra SS had an incredible impact underneath my Rossini player. Really amazing product.

Since you only use three of the blocks, if you're worried you won't like the way they look use two in the rear and one up front.

IIRC, Madrigal used to recommend heavy plate glass as a good base for amps. I use 1/2" under my Parasound JC 1 monoblocks.

I use custom cut 1 inch perspex, resting on wooden blocks....seems to work well.

Guys, the Nimbus feet are outstanding and not too expensive. If you want less expensive and a great value, but still great sound, the Iso-Accoustics are another top alternative. I have played with wooden blocks of all types of wood and found them to be ok, but nothing earth shattering as some feel they are.

Silent Running Audio (SRA) - Highly effective isolation with Component Specific Design. Lifetime coverage for modifying to a different component.

My close friend actually did/doing a shootout of nearly every single footer you can purchase in the US. He's had platform systems (the new top HRS and others) in and the Iso Gia's were by far the Best Buy. Stupid good for the price. He loved the Nimbus footers also for gear that is from folded metal material. They also still work great on solid billet like the MRX's.

Teh Gia's have threaded or just a polymer top, your choice. He has the Shun Moon in now, so we will see how they are. He own's the Stillpoint 5's I believe they call them. He has used them on his Burmuster amps and his DaVinci mk2 DAC. He has a thread on another board, but if you have any specifics that you may want to know, let me know and I can ask him to come over here to post or I'll post what he tells me.

Neither of us has any dog in the fight and he has either been given them to use for purposes of this shootout or in many cases has just bought them and sold them after he used them long enough to get an idea of their sound characteristic. He is a good reviewer in that he had a nice system and the only thing he ever changes when swapping in and out is the specific component that he's reviewing. HE also has some youTube videos of his room and talking about footers and their types of builds and why he feels they work or don't. He's a plastic surgeon and is very thorough in his reviews, lol.

Hey Bill,

If you're interested in having your MX-Rs on their sides (we've found they run about 10-15 degrees cooler this way), we have a myrtle stand that does this. It also puts myrtle under the units, which has been the best sounding material we've tested under our units after trying all sorts of woods, plastics, manufactured feet, dampeners, etc. If you're looking to have them sit normally, I'd recommend trying out the blocks we use. They're pretty cheap when compared to the alternatives and you can get them from with the Ayre logo or Cardas with theirs. We don't really make any money on them, just pretty much pass the cost on, but that's what our sound room uses and we believe in them enough that we couldn't not offer them.
