IMO it is not necessarilly class A vs any other class of amplifier -- but the most important factor is not every amp works best between itself and a particular speaker.

I've heard crappy Class "A" > speaker combos too. They exist.

The best bet is to find a amplifier that works with in unison so to speak & not hinder a particular speaker or vice versa.

Best

Bob

Good point Bob!

Well taken. These Pass babies are pretty sweet. I have a feeling they could make me give up my 911's.

Joe,

If you or your speakers don't need tons of power, and you can accommodate to the heat they generate, there is NOTHING like a well built class A amplifier.

Yeah. It was great keeping my feet toasty in my study

But we are headed towards a warm spring now in Brisbane. So might have to switch to my Bel Cantos soon.

Doggie,

That's some hunk of metal. Wow!

Jerome,

I think for most of my listening, I could have gotten away with the XA60.5's or maybe even the XA30.5's. These 100's can boogie.

doggie (do you have a first name, we're friendly here), my first Class A amps that I heard were the 102's from Plinius, the new Wadia gear had just entered the market & ProAc Response 4's were scorching hot as well as wworlds silver cable. After hearing that system I decided that Class A was in my future.

It's Aiden

I'm running the SA-Reference in the study with a Playback MPS5 as source and an Ayon CD5S as a preamp.
