I’m pretty sure he’s in the latex business.

Cheers,

Cheers,

I'm "this close" to getting a sales position with Vandelay Industries -- the latex manufacturer...

Unfortunately, sales are down at the moment in the latex business, and not expected to rise until everyone is able to socially un-distance again.

Talking Which B&Ws does Architect, Art Vandelay, own?

Oy, Art, do you you own the B&Ws shown in your avatar photo? What are they, mate? 800D3s?

Hi 70sMac,

"800D2's".

Last year I had planned to upgrade to the D3's by mid 2020, but I'm holding off until I move into a new house with a purpose built listening room, which is now very likely to happen before Christmas.

Whether I should hold out further until the D4 model is released is also something I'm increasingly asking myself.

Artie..... Very recently, the Mrs and I had a pair of 800D3s auditioned for us. Each speaker was being driven by a Mac 1.2KW mono block amp.

In that particular room, they sounded about as detailed as any speaker pair that I've ever heard. They seemed to feature the high end frequencies more than we're used to, so, in a word, they sounded quite "different" than what we've grown accustomed to. If you want to hear the nuances of the upper audio frequencies, they were the speakers to have, no doubt, mate.

Thinking similar, do I wait for the D4 or go with demo D3’s?

I've heard them several times in a few different rooms and with different amplification, and what you're saying definitely aligns with what I hear too. Not sure if you've heard the D2's but as with all 'D' variants they also emphasize the top end a bit, so they're not the best choices for listening rooms with lots of hard shiny surfaces but in a typical carpeted room with drapes etc they're fine - because the treble is so pure and non-fatiguing.

D3's are definitely my front-runners but I'm considering a few others too around that price point and perhaps a bit beyond, perhaps as far as Wilson Alexia's.
