Until he did some construction in his room, changed the furniture and set them up again in the room with a friend ( different position ). One day I came to listen to them and they were transformed.

This is what makes auditioning loudspeakers so difficult! I was really after a pair of Amati Futura's until I auditioned them at a dealer. I need to give them another chance, in another venue, before I will know.

I'm glad you took some time off for you. That's awesome.

Tom

Thanks Tom.
You are right.
As Dan said once, dealers are often the worst place to audition anything.
The attention we put in our rooms and systems is much superior to 95 % of the HiFi showrooms.

In France I often got rather poor demos from dealers not knowing me. I do not look like someone who could spend big bucks in HiFi or any other matter indeed
One dealer in Paris knows really who I am and my means. I bought him my Clearaudio TT and the Ref phono 2 preamp, and my Senn HD800 headphones.
He is the one ready to bring the Alexias in my home and let them there so I can have time to listen to them !
They also need to deal with the reflection from all the windows on the right. They have a lot of work ahead of them.

I know a lot about poor demo's and bad sellers with bad advice. I even got almost kicked out once because the guy wanted to go home, too bad for him since I spent my 16k€ elsewhere ...

This is why I now have one place I go to and I only buy from them. I trust them and I know I can spend a whole day demo'ing and they'd love it. It's also a good thing they are dealers for SF and Accuphase. It's nice to see that there are still some places where the French reputation does not apply.

I will not ask the dealer to bring a 100 kgs speaker at the second floor of my home ( anyway he would say " no way " ) without first a listening to my taste at his place.
Jérôme, that should be standard at this price point. I mean this is a major purchase and you have put a lot of work and thought in your room. Plus you have some rare gear that the dealer cannot provide. If you are serious about those speakers then you should listen to them in your room over several days.
