Hi Mark, so how is the new amp working for you? Did you ever try the MSB amp?

Hi Bodiezaffa,

This thread seems like it may have run its course, but I was wondering how you were liking the 302e? I also auditioned my 302e vs. the AR Ref150 and to my ears the Krell did everything the Audio Research did but added the powerful Krell bottom end. Using mine on Magico S5's and, for me, it is so far (40 hours on Magico's) proving to be a great combination.

After having plinius sb301, gamut d200i, Mark levinson 532H, hegel 4Ah SE and some others, I am really enjoing latest krell 302e. Great amplifier that combines all qualities of others into one single box. Having 402e in my system for a while I think 302e is sweet spot in the current krell line, with better damping factor and better slew rate than 402e.
The krell 302e will stay in my system for a long time, no reason to upgrade amps anymore.

Guess the demise of Krell has been greatly exaggerated . Glad to see that the Krell can still play and beat the other big boys.

Hi my jazz123

Was wondering if you have compared krell2250e to Krell 402e.Should I expect major difference or minor difference.
I am looking a new amp for my Sasha's ,which will be arriving soon.
I am considering pass labs as well.
Any comparison between pass labs x350.5 vs Krell 402e.
Thanks
Mohammad

JAmshed, I did compare 2250e, krell 302e, krell 402e in my system and for me the best price/sound combo was krell 302e. I did compare krell 302e with pass 250.5 and krell (to me) sounded more natural with better bass and more energy in midrange and highs.

I agree with myjazz123. I also compared the 2250e to the 302e and ultimately decided on the 302e. Aside from the smaller amp being somewhat visually wanting relative to the ethos of the brand, I too found the big differentiator to be a noticeably more powerful bottom end, more palpable midrange, and smoother highs. For what it's worth, prior to my Magico's, I was using the Krell on a pair of W/P8's and it paired well.

Thanks JRdesign and myjazz 123
I appreciate your comments.
I have had a chance to listen to both Krell 2250e and pass labs 250.5 in the same system in same room but at different time as two different dealers came to my house at different time .
I thought pass labs had better midrange more palpable and bit more energy overall.
What I wonder is how much sound difference between 2250e and 402e.as there is huge difference in price though .
Thanks once again folks .

Jamshed,
I haven't personally listened to a 402e. I'm assuming it's reasonably similar in sound and voicing to a 302e, albeit with more power. To answer your question, I would have a tough time ascribing an additional $10-12K of sound quality (402e) vs. the 2250e. I did feel the ~$5000 premium from the 2250e to the 302e was worth it, but the 302e has as much power as I need. If you can get a deal on a 402e or are looking at a used one that is within the realm of a new 302e price, I would go for it.
