Max Roach by far for me.
Technically Max Roach is a jazz drummer but Rock has its origins in rhythm and blues, jazz, boogie woogie and even country music. |

Plus 1, his control of time signature changes is amazing.

Favorite Rock & Roll Drummer
There's a movie out where a reporter tracks down Ginger, takes you through the journey of a great drummer who always demanded 2 black hookers and a white limo or he wouldn't play then he beats up the reporter with his cane at the end - it truly is an amazing film, you will have to Google the name
