HD650 is a fabulous headphone; a true audiophile/music-lover's classic that flies in the face of today's ever more expensive flagship headphones. Scales like crazy with better amplification -- especially balanced amps -- and sources. It's particularly synergistic with a good vinyl source.

I bought my 1st pair way back in 2004. The current model (2017) is perhaps even slightly better, but it's very close (amazing manufacturing consistency).

The Zu Mobius is very good, but brightens the headphone up considerably. Between the Black and Silver Dragon cables, I prefer the Black (copper). I currently run an HD650 consisting of the following, and it's sweet as hell!
  • SOTA Star III, Fildelity Research FR64fx, Ortofon Cadenza Bronze
  • Sonic Frontiers Phono 1SE+
  • Headroom Balanced Maxed Home amplifier (w/ Jensen ISOMAX balancing transformers)
  • HD650 w/ Black Dragon cable

Received the WW Nano-Eclispe 20ft cable. Doesn't seem to have much of an affect on the sonics in a quick 15min listen. It does pick up some noise from my paper shredder, which is not its fault (am sure the motor is not shielded or grounded). Think it will be 'just what the doctor ordered'.

They are flying off the Massdrop shelves -- the web site has sold over 10K and the 2d run will be increased to 22.5K.

Not bad considering they started selling in December 2016 I believe.

finally got some seat time this week with my newly acquired 650's and like you Glenn I'm pleased with my purchase. So far I've been listening through my Oppo UDP205 but I am thinking perhaps down the road to try out a 'Woo' ..........
