Default Accuphase A70 / C3850 / TAD CE1

Not sure whether to post this in accuphase or TAD thread. Here will do.
Due to a change in domestic circumstance which will probably mean a smaller listening room , I may have to move away from my beloved ARC reference tubes (heat issues). SO I'm looking at SS options. TAD speakers have just become available in my country (New Zealand). I was flown by my dealers to hear a system based on the above combo. My first experience of either Accuphase or TAD. Holy hell!! SImply stunning. Hard to tell whether what I was hearing was due to electronics or speakers ; I suspect more likely a synergy between the 2. BUt the smallish TADs are capable of throwning a huge soundstage and although on paper go down to 35Hz , behaved lower than that. Imaging not pinpoint but that isn't a major listening preference of mine. Tonal colour and subtlety is far more important to me. Goddamn this set up did that. Loved it. Just make me wonder how much better the R1 or CR1 is. But the Accuphase gear was just so so smooth ; dynamic when it needed to be ( e.g. Stravinsky Firebird suite) but subtle on small jazz trio work when the delicate brush work of drummers was beautifully reproduced.I know I'm preaching to the choir here but I never thought I'd move from tubes. This system showed me just how good solid state gear can be.

I have enjoyed the tad/accuphase combo for a little more than a year now and it is divine. The right cables changed it exponentially for the better. Highly recommended.

I was hiking in northern Spain today and the guide was espousing the perfection of New Zealand. Perfect audio and perfect scenery - you are lucky.

The Accuphase A-70 gets pretty hot as well. I'm running the TAD CR-1s with Devialet's Original d'Atelier monoblocks, there's a synergy there as well.
