Have you only tried switching on/off ?

Otherwise try to remove the power cable for a while and re-connect.

Have you read the manual? Likely addresses that symptom under "Faults" (or whatever). Am guessing it is time for a trip to your friendly Accuphase doctor. Hope it isn't gray market, or Accuphase will be no help.

I did not check the headphones output. The DA-40 is Good IMHO, I use DA-40 it for movies and videos only and it sounds OK. For the full price of DA-40 (almost $2000 at the dealer in Canada) you can get a better sounding outboard DAC. However if you find a used card for $700-800 it might be a good deal for a one box solution.

I actually like the DAC40 card quite a bit. A friend who likes classical music even preferred the DAC40 to several times more expensive DACs.

Overall I would say it is certainly at the level of 1-2k DACs. Some other DACs I have or owned previously

Accuphase DC37
Wavelength Cosecant Silver
OPPO 105D
Cyrus DAC8
Weiss DAC2
Benchmark DAC1

Some others I listened to in relative comparison to some of the above
Auralic Vega
MSB analog
Peachtree DAC

My preference out of all DACs is the DC37 and the Wavelength. The DAC40 card is still very enjoyable, especially on classical.

Thanks for the reply guys, I have a Primare Dac 30 that I like, but would be nice with a one in all solution. When can one expect Accuphase to release a new amp, e-480 maybe?

That's quite a ways down the road.

Default Class A vs AB

I continuously read that Class A is far superior to A/B, however my understanding is that class a/b does run in classA while under a specific output. I have an accuphase e-470, however i cant help but feel i am missing out on something from a sonic perspective. I have been contemplating the e-650, but if the e-470 is running class A for the first few watts, is there really a difference?

I tend to listen around 85-88 dB. I am using Harbeth SHL5 Plus speakers.

I appologize if this is not the right place to post, I don’t have rights to create a new thread.

Also, there are now dealers in the area that has Accuphase Class A gear for me to audition or compare to the E-470.

Thanks
