The Teac looks like a very promising piece however it doesn't appear that Onkyo, which now has US distribution rights for Teac, has released it in the US or even set a price. Probably a scaled down version of the lower Esoteric streamer/DAC.

I think I’m more confused now than when I 1st started this endeavor.
Lots to think about and tougher to listen to them all.

I have a the Brooklyn Dac+. It's really good, and it's even better with a good external linear power supply - not every DAC has that upgrade path.

Which linear power supply do you use?
I'm leaning Kitsune Level 3, but still undecided.

I have the Kitsune Level 3 and am exceedingly happy with it. I also am using the Singxer SU-1 USB Audio Bridge to convert USB out to i2s in to the Kitsune which improves the sound quality significantly from straight USB, only marginally so from AES-EBU (but you need USB if you want DSD). My suggestion would be to not get it if you don’t like the sound with the power supply it comes with. If you do like it, then get it— use it for a while and then decide if it needs any improvement that could be had by changing the power supply.

The NT-505 model isn't sold in the USA. That seems to be a Japanese version.

I would say the Bryston BDA-3 if MQA is not the deciding factor and the Mytek Brooklyn + if MQA is important. I have enjoyed listening to both. And both considerably outshine the Oppo UDP-205, which I also own. I ran the Oppo as a transport into the Bryston via HDMI....a great way to enjoy SACD.

So my decision is made.

As as much as I would have loved the T+A DAC 8 it was out of my reach.

So I just pulled the trigger on the Bryston BDA-3.

The Bryston is loaded with options that most other DACs don’t have. I plan to take advantage of them.

Thanks to all for your replies and advice. I’ll keep you posted when I receive the unit.
