Suddenly Lots Of WP8
Apparently, WP8 are on sale ... everywhere. First on Audiogon, then some independent sites and now in Singapore. I wonder what's the fair price for a new mint pair!
For sure, it should be way down from the retail of $29k it use to command, not to mention a discount factor plus "used" pricing. Anyone has a number to share?

Slightly under $20k for a brand new pair is not out of the question right now for WP8. The Sasha will raise the bar!

I applaud your mindset. In this hobby, whether the model was replaced because of technology progress or simply marketing needs, it is up to us consumers to decide if we would go with it. To do so would mean chasing with wads of dollars in hand to dispense. Sometimes, it may be a chase that is futile cause in the end, the result could be so marginal one simply asked if its worth the while after all. But then again, most times, when the chase is on, we are most willing. I speak from own experience. If the WP8 sounds fine to you, then it is your dream come true. Maybe the Sasha is not your cup of tea when you bring it home. Just like the XRT30's cause I like what I heard in the ML1C and to me back then, if small is so good, imagine what could happen it the top model comes in. Well, it just wont perform as I imagine it to be because of my room. The WP7 could have stayed on and I would have saved a bundle ..... ( the loss from 7 to XRT30 for my new pair of Acapellas are very high - enough to buy me a new set of one of my listed dream speakers). Well, thats life I suppose, so, I moved on. And I know you will too with your WP8. Cheers!

While getting a deal is always enjoyable, you're absolutely right that the best part is the enjoyment of your ears.

I'll second the notion that a good deal is always nice but if you are happy with the outcome, the dollars spent will quickly be forgotten but the music will linger on for a long, long time...

Thank you my friends for the kind words.
Jerry, I don't think I'll move soon, I'm no more in the upgrade bug.I simply enjoy what I've got these 2 last years to make my dream come true: 1000 full McIntosh system , Clearaudio TT/arm/cart and WP8s. Right now while I type, I'm enjoying the wonderful pianist Vladimir Horowitz playing Mozart Piano Sonatas...WWWOOOAAAWWW! |
