Default Denali v1 vs New D6

Simple question. Which one would you choose all things being equal?

Assume a V10NR as the device power cord and V12NR's for source components. Also no power amp will be on distributor and only will provide power to a tube preamp, DAC, CD/SACD transport, and TT power supply.

Thanks -

I would get the Delta D6 instead of the Denali V1.

Why? Because Shunyata Research has continually demonstrated that they are capable of increasing the functionality and quality attributes of their power distrubutors over time (i.e., with new models relative to older models) AND also able to cascade that functionality downwards in the portfolio to a broader range of (more affordable) products.

Also, I think its going to be fully possible to power a power amp with Delta D6, FWIW.

Just a note: make sure that when you order an NR-V10 for your distributor, that its clear that it needs to be fitted with a C19 plug. A friend of mine ordered one from a vendor and they inadvertantly placed an order for a standard C15 plug.

The D6 does not have the QR/BB technology found in the HC zone of Denali v1. This may give an edge to the latter depending on the power amp.

QR/BB in the Denali v1 does work as advertised. This was the biggest surprise to me. I would have never expected the dynamics to be improved over plugging my Spectral amp into a high quality power strip (Nordost Qbase). (Even better though was plugging my amp into a second dedicated outlet all by itself.) My Spectral preamp preferred the HC zone as well. I moved it over to this zone after moving my amp to the wall.

It appears the inclusion of QR/BB is one of the things that distinguishes the Reference Level from the Performance level.

Given that the OP won’t be powering an amp, I’d have to agree with Stephen above.

Thanks for the guidance -

Seems like the D6 along with the V10NR and V12NR will provide he correct balance vs. overall cost. Looking forward to adding to getting it in my system.

It’s been my experience that the power cord coming from the wall tends to set the agenda for what follows. The bigger the pipe the better in other words. So stretching for the V10NR might be the right move.

Disclaimer: it was with other brands of power cords I found this to be the case. Nordost in particular. Hope others will chime in here about their experiences with Shunyata cords feeding a Shunyata conditioner from the wall.
