Thank you Ivan. I worked hard on the acoustics by trial and error over the years. It's amazing just how much passive room tuning affects the sound. I have zero slap echo yet the room is alive. I'm listening to FM. A sure sign you have too much sub is listening to the male FM disc jockey voice. Does it sound the same or very nearly the same with the sub in as out? If it doesn't you have a problem. Take a lot of work to get a "good" room.

Best

Charles

p.s. I really loved my DQ10's with the DQ1W's in the corners with the Dalquist crossover but I could never get the male DJ voice right. It always sounded chesty and too heavy. I had the same problem with the Gen II's. You don't have this problem with big Wilsons crossed over at 30 Hz.

One important "philosophical" issue that Serge has touched on a couple of times--are certain hifi components, such as the Chronosonics, and the McIntosh 901s as another example--are these really "home" audio products? At some point the size becomes impossible for virtually all.

I have 108" between the tweeters and sit 11' away. Really sounds nice. It's called on axis listening. Each tweeter is aimed exactly at my ears for precise on axis treble response. Wilson is the only company that recommends this throughout their line and you get zero harshness or edge. It works.
Charles. I am so glad that you did not have second thoughts after I "suggested" you reconsider going with black. Black can be so imposing plus I think you miss some of the fine details Wilson designed into the XVX's with the very dark colors.

Not many XVX owners take the time you did to insure your significant expenditure would fit and work in your room. Glad that you continue to enjoy them as much now as the day they were installed.

A close encounter with the $329,000 Wilson Chronosonic XVX speakers

The Audiophiliac spent some quality time with the Wilson 'XVX, and he wants to tell you all about it.

So, why can't the McIntosh MC901 be used with Wilson speakers? Anyone have an answer to that question.
