Default Simple, but it works

Like many, I have debated if I should add room treatment...after many years I decided to begin with 242s. I ordered six to treat the first reflection points. Yesterday I received the final three. I installed two on each side at the first reflection points and two on the ceiling. Nice improvement, not night and day, but more clarity all around,a wider soundstage, and slightly more space between instruments. For the cost, I highly encourage everyone on the fence, just do it! In all my years of buying and selling equipment, this is one of the best results ever. In a couple weeks I will order four tritraps for the front corners.20140624_133926.jpg

I believe, from my own experience that the corner bass traps (Tri-trap) will yield more noticeable results. I started with these myself and have felt to need to treat my room further. Of course my space is much smaller than yours.

Great report and thanks for taking the time to post.. I do agree that over time you may want to look at bass trapping to help with low end decay.

I actually tried ASC 16" round traps in the front corners prior to talking to GIK, with minimal results. GIK recommended treating the first reflection points first and follow it up with bass traps. Every room is different and in my room GIK was correct recommending treating the first reflection points. I hope adding tri traps will yield better results than the ASC traps.

Awesome. Congratulations on the treatment and very nicely integrated

Room treatment is a key element of any installation and often overlooked.

Spending 2k on GIK product will give a higher increase in sound quality than 20k in hardware.

I can't quantify GIK products versus equipment changes/upgrades; however I admit that I should have done this years ago. The other lesson I learned is room treatment doesn't have to be super expensive. I had other estimates above 5K and with GIK I will spend less than $1500. You don't know what you don't know, but when you know it you should share it...if you haven't treated your room you truly don't know what your equipment sounds like!

I received two tri traps today. The results are relatively subtle compared to when I added 244s. Will purchasing two additional tri trap and stacking them have any benefits?
