Yes, the TriTraps are the size of the air gap that would be behind a 2' x 4' straddling panel so they're definitely more space restrictive (and give better performance at low frequencies in either case).

I'm a little confused on your description of the back wall. If you're asking to use TriTraps in all corners vs using them in three corners with Monsters in the other, I think either way wouldn't be too big a compromise but I would probably go with the TriTraps. The Monsters would be good if you could get them centered on the wall behind you though.

An angled ceiling is best set up so that the shortest wall is in front of you sloping up higher behind you, but obviously, some rooms slope left to right. This isn't the best for stereo listening, but ceiling panels at reflection points will certainly help. You'd hang those panels parallel with the floor.

I do recommend sending us an e-mail if you have specific questions so we can be sure your questions get answered in a more timely manner - I try to check forums as much as possible but obviously this isn't always possible every day. You can send me an e-mail at alex.r@gikacoustics.com with any additional questions. Of course you can post them here as well still too.

Thanks Alex, when I get the last couple of shelving units in, I'll shoot you an email.

Michael

Finally finished some of the built ins to my room, did the REQ evaluation, and chose some fabrics. Order was placed earlier this week. Looking forward to the listening Thanks Alex for the help with the setup. (initially I am placing 2 each tri-traps in the front corners, a monster bass trap along the bottom of the front wall, and a ceiling mounted 242 at the first reflection. I wanted to try these out. Adding side wall panels will involve stands, and finding places for them when I want to get into/out of the room, so I want to see how things go without them first.

Hello All,
I recently made a couple of temporary absorbers for the first reflection points in my room, to see the effects. I had a case of 1 inch OC703 rigid fiberglas in the shed waiting for this day. I wrapped 24"X48"X2" (two, one inch plys together) with some left over GoM fabric. It definately reduced the reflections, but I thought I could improve more, so I added 2 more sheets of fiberglas for a 4 inch panel placed on each side. To me, it seemed way more controlled, but then I started wondering if it was too thick for those side walls...then I was thinking of making them go back to two inches thick but have to panels on each side wall...I haven't tried that yet, but do you think that it would be a better way to go? Thanks, Pete

By the pictures you can see a window behind the audio rack. From the seated position the wall on the left has sliding closet doors. As seated the entry into the room is in the left corner. So this is the layout. Hopefully GIK can help me get things all tuned up
Nice system!

I always recommend thicker panels for any area, so yes stick with the 4" if you can. It will only help absorb more lower frequencies.
