Placement can be tricky. I believe the manual states to start in a corner and slowly work the sub out for proper integration. One technique used by Allan ( Mr. Bass) is to put on a track with constant repetitive deep drums. When the sub is improperly placed you will hear the sub compression separate from the mains. Slowly move the sub until the bass impact is identical temporally with the mains. This of course means the mains are already set up optimally.
Now turn the crossover very low and at a moderate amount if level. Slowly increase the crossover until you just hear the subwoofer. Next, back off the crossover slowly until the sub "disappears", then slowly adjust the level and crossover to meet your taste. You will need less crossover and more volume due to localization cues of a single sub. Of course a second sub remedies many of these ails, but adds new ones.

I hope this helps.

BTW I placed 2 G1's with Focal Stelas. I ended up with a higher crossover and lower level. The subs were placed outside the mains in almost symmetrical fashion.
Be careful REL bass can be overwhelmingly addictive, not that there is anything wrong with that. ;-).

Good luck.

BTW run the subs only off the speaker terminals.

BTW I did not move my bass traps, I started out from the corner equal distance from the side and back walls.

I agree with mike... The REL bass is extremely addictive! That's exactly why I made the mistake of setting the crossover too high....the sub sounds really good! Tonight I pulled the crossover down to 44Hz and increased the level a tad....the end result is much better, but the left channel still feels a little heavy...definitely plenty of directionality left at 44Hz. I will likely end up w a second 528...what are the challenges of sub x 2?

If you still have issues with pulling to one side, your mains are not properly positioned-they are pressurizing the room unevenly.

Oh and 44hz is still way too high
