Very nice Stephen! Love your attitude and watch selection.

I had a discussion with a close friend the other day about what constitutes a true "watch afficionado". He mostly collected the Uber expensive watches all his life and has sold them all off now and is involved with collecting "unique", "interesting" and "historical" watches but not necessarily expensive either. He picked up an 1880 Meylan with the porcelain dial with "fired on enamel" and a pocket watch movement recased into a wrist watch. Meylan had a few patents back in the day. Audemars Piguet hired Meylan to start their watch business with some of Meylan's patents.

So I asked him, do you derive satisfaction out of researching and learning the history of such watches and then hunting for such pieces as opposed to walking into a store and writing a check for another Uber watch? He just laughed and said "you bet"... Is he a "watch afficionado"? I think so.

I thought you'd relate to this Stephen.

Not the best at taking watch pics, so here is one from the internet that shows my Jaeger-LeCoultre, Reverso Squadra World Chronograph. Love this as the back combines chronographic functions on its front face with a universal time - or Worldtime – display on its back.
