Default Magico New Q Series

I saw some posts on the AV Guide site where Magico is going to be introducing there new Q lines of speakers at CES. It looks like they will be machined from aluminum which in YG , Krell and Magico's Ultimate (which I have never heard) sounded pretty good.

There are about 5 photos here from Magico's site.

Cool.

I am planning out my HT right now and it would have been nice to build around Magico V3's but they don't offer any center or surround matching speakers. The Wilson is also a consideration but they seem to be in a transitional stage right now with their HT stuff. The new Polaris center is designed to be partnered with the Maxx 3/Alexandria while the Watch products are falling behind and were used with the older Wilson speakers. I would have to step up to the Maxx3/Polaris and still not have a truly matching surround set.

Serge, I still think a visit to the Cape could save you money; then again it could also cost you more.

David said he'll split the drive with you.

I just saw this post by Alan Sircom the Editor of Hi Fi+. He heard them at a Portugal Show.

Sounds like he likes them, or at least the Q5's with some top dollar amps and cabling. Hope I get to hear them someday. Maybe RMAF 2010.

Perhaps the biggest was the first showing of the final, signed-off version of the Magico Q5 (the CES outing was a late prototype… there have been some small, but significant, changes since then) at one of importer Imacustica’s rooms. The chance to hear this remarkable loudspeaker partnered with the new DarTZeel NHB-458 mono power amps proved irresistible. The actual listening to the system (which also brought the EAT turntable, Metronome Technologie’s epic CD player, DarTZeel NHB-18NS preamp and Transparent’s top speaker cable to the party) proved even better than the anticipation. It’s often hard to tear yourself away from a system that costs in excess of a quarter of a million dollars, especially one that sounds just as wonderful at one watt as it was swinging nearly a kilowatt, but this one was truly special, quite simply the best sound I have ever heard from audio, not just in a show… but anywhere. Hotel security had to pry me away to listen to the rest of the show systems.

Think the Q5 is priced to sell and be "competitor" to the Maxx 3.

By the way Jim, how's the new 111F's?

Ron's showroom is devoid of the high end MBL's speakers when I last visited last Friday ... a.k.a. 101e MkII as well yours.

The 111f's are coming from Denver via air. They sat there waiting for space for 3 full days 'till early Saturday morning. I am hoping I get them delivered Monday or Tuesday at the latest. I can't beleive how slow it has been.

See if he wants to buy my 111e's.

Nice & Sweet. I will SMS Ron to see if he will and make contact with you.

These days, I seldom moved around the shops as I do not want to catch the "change fever". More so, Ron's as he is pushing me for the full MBL Reference setup.

Meanwhile, I will, whenever am free, play around with my hifi "drawing board" to see what are the combo I can get for the same monies as the MBL Reference. So far, I can make out the speakers, but for amps and sources, only able to make out the Ayre, Lamms and well, back to McIntosh! Plenty of self introspection to so before I can really come up with the combos - then go listen.

Cheers!

Cheers!
