Rachelle Ferrell - Live in Montreux 91-97

Wow!
This was recommended last week here in this thread and I'm glad I went for it.
This is a very good vocalist and I wonder why I had not heard of her before.
I wonder how her other albums are. And she has not recorded so many...
Her voice resembles Jill Scott's (blues singer).

Edit: she shows off a little bit too much her vocal abilities. 5 octaves for sure, but we don't want to hear that in every song...

I think no one would dislike this. A swinging bebop session from the late 70s. All star quartet.

"The Gifted Ones"
Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Ray Brown, Mickey Roker
Pablo 2310 833

I got my copy new back in the early 80s. It is still in NM condition. Until this evening I probably hadn't played it in 25 years. But the jazz on this is great.

I was just looking at this earlier today as a possible purchase. I know this has his famous 80 sec. solo from the 40s. I have a $230 gift certificate to Acoustic Sounds and am assembling a shopping list.

A good friend of mine asked me to find a new one for him, I could not find no where a new one on the web.
In the end I fond one in mint minus condition on Discogs for $27.

I have had pretty good luck picking up used jazz LPs at reasonable prices on Discogs.
