Nelson, I appreciate you looking into this. What great service from another ARC lover. If they're aluminum I still can't figure out why there is black underneath the silver that was scratched... Like I said originally, it's not a big deal.

John, I am enjoying the unit very much. It has the detail retrieval of my previous DAC with a more musical presentation which is exactly what I've been looking for. As for tweaks, the ferrite filters were removed prior to my getting the unit and weren't sent along so I can't do any comparisons there. I've read and have talked with a couple people who said that the difference in sound is much better. I plan on buying some Symposium Rollerblock Jr's to try out with it. I'll keep you posted as to how they work out.

Update: After talking to Kalvin at ARC, it seems as though the handles on my unit were painted silver by the previous owner. Originally the handles on the DAC8's were black. This makes perfect sense now in regards to the black coming through on my handles.
