Haha yep, and me with my double Kilimanjaros and WEL/Wild ICs. But if I see a great deal on a 4-7 ft Redwood, it just might be worth another whack for fun. I tried an 8ft pair of Redwood in my system a few years ago. I know my current 2x Kilimanjaro is definitely more resolving, but the Redwood was so beautifully coherent, smooth, and warm. I'd like to give them another listen now. And/or certainly a Wildwood, which could perhaps do it all.
Yes, the Firebird PC is coming. I might be tempted towards a couple of those, but unfortunately the pricing seems closer to the Dragon than Hurricane. Anything PSS just blows up the pricing. |

Do you suppose the reason for the triple braid is to give the benefit of a very thick single cord in a lighter more supple platform? I assume all three cords are identical.

That would make sense, especially in the absence of another explanation. Kimber braids their TC speaker cables; the 12TC is 8 AWG, which I imagine would be much stiffer in a single cable run. So the principle seems to have merit for conducting a musical signal, and it may apply to power transfer/filtering as well. I know the 3 braids are referred to as "poles." The geometry may yield other benefits as well, but I can't think of them the top of my head, not being that technical. Perhaps Audioquest would answer the question if you put it to them.

Hello everyone, anyone hear the new "Mythical Creatures" speaker cables yet? I hear there is also a cheaper line of the same architecture named Folk Hero or something similar.

Not me and never will. I don't know how anyone can ever have the luxury of swapping out these extremely expensive cables in their system. A pair of 3m Wel Signatures run about 38,000.00 retail. I had mine installed by the dealer. Never touched them and never will but I checked them very carefully. Ditto for the Wel IC's and Dragon power cords. I cannot imagine the price of the new AQ line silver cables. My opinion after hearing the difference between the Wels and my old copper is that if you can afford the new line buy them! I don't believe you will regret it but you need to have the equipment quality to match. Otherwise waste of time and money.

Hello,
Has anyone done or read about anyone doing a direct comparison between the Oaks and the Thunderbird zero speaker cables ? I currently have a demo pair of Oaks, I really love them (connected to y ARC VSI75 to Sonus Faber Oylmpica 3s), however, they are a little too long for me at 10 feet. I can get these at good deal but would much prefer 8 foot, but, i just found out they don't have any available in Canada (just 5 feet...too short). Now, i can order 8 foot Thunder birds obviously but, they cost more $$ and I would have to order them in ....wondering if anyone has heard of any comparisons ? thank you !! Paul |

I guess I'll answer my question, IMO, The Thunderbird Zero outperform the Oaks after having both in my system this week. The Thunderbirds are literally brand new from the plant though, but still, offer beautiful mids and with a touch of smooth "crispness" over the Oaks at this early stage....I'll offer more comments after a couple more weeks but so far, really glad I dropped the ball and went with the Thunderbirds....
