You are correct. A PC is a great alternative to a 300/750. I use my laptops for syncing a portion of my music with my iPhone and Ipod not for storing all of my music. I prefer to be able to move my laptops around and not having one tied up to a DAC. If McIntosh does not offer the capability of storing hi-rez files in the next generation 750, I will probably have to buy PC based system to add to my system.
