I wonder how they would sound with the Gryphon Mephisto.

Hi kmund,

Which amps were used with S7 during your visit/audition?
May you tell us more about the performance/characters of S7?

Many thanks!!!

Myles
It appears that Magico uses MIT SHD120 speaker cables and matching interconnects to voice their speakers. You appear to favor Viero cables with your Magico's. Could you take a moment and characterize the differences and your thoughts on cables with Magico?

I will audition the S7 when it arrives at the Hong Kong dealer.

However, it is a bit too big for my room. Had Alon mentioned any plans such as Q5mk2 or S5mk2 using the same technologies in Q7mk2/S7/Project M?

Thank you again!

Hello,

Does anyone have any insight into why Magico speakers seem to go against the grain from other manufacturers who go to great pains to minimize the surface area that surrounds the Mid/Tweet drivers to avoid reflections?

All of the Magico speakers I have seen seem to have large empty areas that extend way beyond the actual size of the drivers themselves so I wonder how they are getting around these reflection issues so many others find it important to avoid.

Thanks

I have no particular insight about this, but perhaps the characteristics of the drivers Magico uses makes this less important than in other designs? Or maybe it has to do with other aspects of the cabinet or crossover? There are other wide speakers out there - the Strads come to mind - isn't the shape said to minimize room interactions? It's probably a complex interplay between a lot of things really that get worked out in the design.

It has to do in part with the baffle step effect mentioned in my piece. For more info, see this: https://www.trueaudio.com/st_diff1.htm

Then yes there's reflections and cabinet shape too.
