Thanks, Andy. I might eventually go for the D-08 but at twice the cost, I just don't know if it will sound that much better. The D-06 has a very warm sweet sound to it in my system. It makes my previous cd player sound like a toy... I think it was the right choice with my set up.

And the image is striking. The instruments are all floating in the air as I listen. Also, the detail I've never heard is now there on the Cds. And the SACDs sound superb through the D-06 as well.

I don't know, because I haven't heard the D 06 and D08, but I suspect the sweet spot in the range is the D06. I certainly very content with my D 05. Great to have another Luxman owner on board. Are you running XLR to your amp? I find it a better connection (cleaner airer etc) although my amp is not a true balanced design.

I think so too. The D-06 came after the D-08 and it is supposed to be the little brother to the D-08 instead of an upgrade of D-05.

This is my 1st Luxman piece although I've been lusting after Luxman gear for some time. Using balanced out to my ARC LS25 mkII preamp.

Very curious what a D-08 can do. I've heard great things about the Esoteric K-03 too. But I've now at least confirmed that I do like the Luxman sound signature in my current setup. So if I do go to the D-08, I can do so with some confidence.
