How does Nordost sound in combination with Wilson speaker's internal wiring with Transparent?

I heard the Dag Momentum stereo amp in house with Wilson Sashas a few years back.
Best ss amp for Wilsons among the many that I have heard.

I've not been particularly impressed with the momentum pre and not sure about the original version of the amps, but the M400 with the Ayre KX-R Twenty pre was very impressive in a recent demo. Might want to check out the newer S250 at least.

Regarding internal cabling and matching external ones with the same brand -- it's all a personal choice & full loom synergy thing IMHO. Neither the two routes mentioned are down right wrong or a mistake. Looking back years & years ago, Wilson Audio was wired with MIT cables & somewhere in the W/P 5 series, Transparent Audio became the preferred internal wiring.
What I did find interesting today when I was thinking of this verses that is the following: looking at the Wilson Audio, Transparent Audio & Nordost web sites, I found there are 36 Wilson Audio dealers (not locations) in the USA. Of those, 4 represent Transparent Cables & 13 for Nordost. The remaining 19 sell a variety of other brands. Ironically though, there is only 1 Wilson Audio dealer in the entire 50 states that carries both Transparent & Nordost. Now, that doesn't mean to imply anything, but; we have all been to shows where Wilson Audio was externally cabled with either Transparent or Nordost (and several others to be honest). In my opinion, should the Wilson Audio hierarchy host an event & have reservations because cabling on-hand was less than stellar & not be able to represent the "intended sound", I'm sure factory supported arrangements would be made to overcome that deficiency. What cable loom would that be -- I don't know but I'd imagine it would depend a great deal on electronics too. For myself, I made the right move with the Nordost Odin selection for their low noise floor, low level & micro details (which I absolutely love about the amps and the cabling carries it further), the powerful bass and midrange magic and pinpoint imaging. Something I've heard and read regarding Transparent Audio too -- . I'm happy & that's all that matters in this house. Time for some uplifting happy, cocktail, music I say -- Mamas and Papas Greatest Hits (SH mastered) (Not in that order -- ha). Best Sirs, Bob

Let me update and clarify a bit if I may. The internal Transparent cable used in Wilson loudspeakers are raw jacketed cables that are custom configured by Wilson Audio for the specific applications within each of our speakers. Anyone who has toured our factory will have seen the templates for every cable for every location in every loudspeaker we make. It's quite an array. Quality and consistency are paramount because of the expectations we have for extremely tightly measured, repeatable performance. As for dealers who sell finished Transparent Cables, there are currently 37 US Wilson dealers, 21 of whom are Transparent Dealers but not Nordost. There are 7 who are Nordost Dealers but not Transparent, and 7 who are dealers for both. So of 37, 35 are either Transparent, Nordost or both. When we do events at a dealer, we are there to support the dealer. We are not there to dictate the cable choice but to insure that the dealer is able to show off what our speakers can do for his clients. All of our dealers have cables with which we can make great sound. There has never been a problem with this. Why? Because if we felt a potential dealer did not have an adequate support product to sell with Wilson products, we would not put them on as a dealer. Thankfully, we are in a position to have the highest expectations of our dealers. I well know how happy you are Bob. Isn't that what we're all after with our own systems? Hi Bill -- in pondering whether to respond to the post, I said to myself, I'll awake the giant himself. ().
In regards to your latter, emphatically Yes, that is what we are all after -- Thanks too for clarifying dealership associations -- as I mentioned comparing websites of the 3 --- TA though has quite a "find a dealer" shortfall on their website with only 7 nationally listed. I was expecting "find a dealer" to be 95% accurate on all 3 websites. Boy, was I misled. Best Sir, Bob

No worries Bob. I believe Dealer Locators should make the clients' lives easier.Unfortunately they don't always do that. In some cases, they make you jump through hoops. That's not good. While we are good at making accessing our dealers' info and what products they have on display, we can be a little tardy listing new dealers. For instance, Hometunes in Austin was added as a dealer earlier this month and we are just now getting their info on line. |
