Steve,
I forgot about the S10. They are very nice and I think the S10 series is highly collectible too. But in the U.S, there are quite often found and less valuable or collectible than the 3000 series, IMO. I would keep it if there is space to store it. They are also getting rarer these days. Just be a little careful if you are planning to use them after storing them for years. Use a Variac to bring them up slowly since the old electrolytic capacitors could fail after sudden powering up after years of storage. About 3 years ago, I was offered a very nice S10 stack (amp, pre and cdp) for a very reasonable cost and I didn't take it. I still want to kick my back for passing up the chance. It might be why I forgot to mention it in the first place. lol Disclosure: I am a Denon addict just as much as with any other audio brand. |

Here is my POA 1500 that has the black face and the beautiful mahogany like wood finish.
Im debating weather to sell it or keep it as I don't have any use for it.

Beautiful amp! I think you should keep it and keep as stock -- it's price will hold.
I think that was almost a trademarked face, since Yamaha (B2), Sony (TA-N77ES), Onkyo (M504), Technics (SE-A70) had very similar fronts with huge meters. Those were the days... Disclosure: I'm a sucker for the meters.

Mike, I have one just like yours. I replaced all of the lights about 6 months ago and it just sits in my closet looking for an application. I think I might us it along with an old Tandberg preamp I have in my Tahoe house. It really is handsome and I have some great memories watching the meters bounce to some great tunes back in the day....

I have a pair of B&W 602 speakers that I will use in that room. Back in the day I used the Denon to drive my JBL 4343 speakers. That was a rocking set up in the day!

I own the POA 1500, PRA 1000 & DCD 1500; purchased new in 1985 along with my Infinity RS1B speakers. I had to step up & spend over $180,000 to find a qualified replacement w/new MAC gear & Genesis 2.2jr's. My point... let's not look down on good vintage gear.
