Default Help cooling my room

I have an audio room that's 18x10 with one exterior window. The house does not have any duct work. And in the summer i throw in a few window units on the main floor. I guess the best solution would be a ductless air conditioner, but I'm wondering if there may be another solution. I don't want to add any fan or motor noise to my room. The outside window is covered by a carport. So I wondered if I could put a floor standing air conditioner outside with the blower tube on the window. This way all the motor sound would be outside and I would just be getting the cool air through the window.
But I'm wondering If the unit is outside would it be reading the outside temperature and never shut off brrrrrrr.

Any suggestions without breaking the bank would be greatly appreciated.

There are quite a few very quiet ductless AC models available today.

Floor standing air conditioning units are pretty useless. When I was much poorer I had one in my student apartment and the thing barely managed to cool my bedroom. In fact it was completely ineffective unless it was blowing directly at you. The other problem is that the condensation collects in a tank. Once the tank is full, the unit switches itself off and you have to empty it. Depending on the humidity in your area, this may be anything from 4-8 hours.

I think the best way to go is a split system. There may be a way to route ducts through your ceiling. Have a chat to your air cond expert.

My room is under the roof and can get very hot.
I use a Daikin inwall AC. Its works very quietly and does not bother me at all when I listen to music, even at very low volumes.
I have been more disturbed by my MCD201 reading noise or the power supply of my Harmony remote !

I use a split AC system in my recording studio control room and studio. It is a reverse cycle unit with a single compressor outside, and a separate wall mounted fan/coil unit for the studio and for the control room. The system is very quiet, microprocessor controlled squirrel cage fans, and remote controls for each room. Both rooms stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. For you stereo room, a split AC will be perfect.

An air conditioner with an evaporation system can do it. And now many portable air conditioners have been able to keep quiet operation, even if they are placed in the room will not disturb you.
