Wink Word to the Wise

Well just a few rambling thoughts since I am on the back side of 50, and done more and lived more than most that make it to 80. I also have many family members and friends that are sadly no longer on this side of the dirt so to speak.

I workout like a pro football guy in my 20s trying to hold back aging, I don't think I am winning but I am at least slowing it down some and I feel better it not just the physical aspect the mental state is fantastic. I sure wish I could bottle and sell my positive outlook for being in control as much as possible of my own self.

Anyway:
As we age our eyes grow dim, hearing fails, tendinitis, high frequencies are not as clear as when young, we need to what more closely what we eat, drink, our weight, blood pressure... man oh man. age sucks. Joints wear out ugg...

But you can not roll back time, and so all I am saying is that if there is something you have been yearning for and you can afford it without repercussions to the family etc when it comes to audio gear, I STRONGLY think you should get it .

If you keep waiting you will get to the point that you will not be able to enjoy it near as much and a as younger healthier you.

I am not saying at all cost to sacrifice other things and especially not the time etc with loved ones.

I know I have a lot of nice gear and still want to upgrade, this is a hobby that never ends, and I think that is a good thing. It helps to keep me wanting and that makes me have drive and feel young.

I think this Alan Parson Project Song says it all.
Can't Take it With You (give this song a listen)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbq3KS6VA-M

Well I sympathize completely but there's nothing I can do
I am just a humble servant with a message here for you
Well i know you have good reasons and there's things you've got to do
But the boatman won't be waiting and he's leaving here with you
And you can't take it with you
No matter what you do
No you can't take it with you
Not the place you're going to

Well I sympathize completely but there's nothing i can do
I am just obeying orders, I'm a simple soul like you
Well you really are persuasive, but I've heard it all before
And the boatman's getting restless as he stands upon the shore
And you can't take it with you
No matter what you do
No you can't take it with you
Not the place you're going to
Can't take it with you

It is like the time slipping away as stated in another great song of theirs.
The Alan Parsons Project - Day After Day (The Show Must Go on) (give this song a listen too)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV46nsp67Rs

Don't let the Chance go by!
Time is on your side but it goes and it goes faster day after day.

Enjoy life and bless all you my brothers and sisters!

In other words....

YOLO

?

ps: love that Alan Parsons song you quoted first.

TDon Henley, on his End of Innocence album penned a slightly twisted lyric for the track "Gimme What You Got" which says,

Then, Gabriel comes and taps you on the shoulder
But you don't see no hearses with luggage racks

In other words, you can't take it with you.

Dave.......We often hear old age referred to as the golden days. I refer to them as the rusty days. I'm like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. If I don't keep myself oiled I freeze up. Gotta keep moving.

Thanks for a good post.

Thank you, Dave.
Whom ever say's that growing old lessens the faculties for useful and meaningful introspection...should read your post. Well done.

I don't want to grow old and as the saying goes, "Old age isn't for the week or sissies".

I have watched people dear to me grow old and lived life very miserable and pain.

On the other hand, some of the same dear people in my life died fairly young. One day they were here the next day they were gone just living their life as normal.

I don't want my end of days, months, years to be an activity of going to the doctor. Living years to wake up and your biggest joy is getting out of the house for doctor visits. Really at some point there is no point.

I really don't care if something is bad for me, deemed by other this week. It's my life as such, it will end one day just like everyone else will. Sometimes I think people have lived their life.... then they spend the rest of their days waiting to die.

Right now our priority is travel over audio gear. When we were planning for my retirement we looked at how we would allocate our saving to cover:
The Go-Go Years.
The Slo-Go Years
and the No-Go Years.

The common saying is "You're only as old as you feel".

I prefer Groucho Marx's version better: "You're only as old as the women you feel".
