Using the Venom Defender
Next week, thanks to the scheduled arrival of my Denali 2000/T, I shall have a "surplus" Venom Defender to employ elsewhere.
I also have an "original" Shunyata Hydra, which I recently came to learn lacks the noise reduction capabilities of later Hydra units. Clearly, it makes sense to utilize my newly-available Defender with that Hydra unit. The question is, should this Defender be plugged into the wall socket next to the Hydra's power cord, into one of the six [valuable] outlets of the Hydra itself, or does it not matter?

The wall outlet. Which is where Caelin advised me to install the Defender paired with my original Hydra.
