I simply don't feel that 9" more height will make any difference. My dealer thinks they will sound fantastic. He thinks my amps will easily drive them. I agree wholeheartedly. The color unless I change my mind will be piano black with black trim. One of my concerns was overloading my room with bass but then I remembered that I can use the front bass port. Folks, this will be my final speaker. My "Last Hurrah". I am a Mac aficionado. I will never change from Mac. Mac has made this possible because ultimately, I am and have always been a speaker aficionado. I have always believed that excellent quality cords, cables, and digital front end plus a truly great speaker gives the most bang for the buck. My cables and cords second to none as are my power conditioners. It's a "drop in". Albeit a big drop in.

Yes. It's done! I have every reason to believe I will in a few months be a proud owner of an xvx. The dealer will have to come out and professionally measure and there are many details to be ironed out and a contract must be signed, but we have agreed in principle. This is my third Wilson. My dealer and I are very acquainted and comfortable with each other. I would not even remotely consider something like this on a first purchase. I truly believe I have extensive with Wilsons.

Have you looked at the xvx on the Wilson website? I have never seen a new Wilson with this much new technology. I view the price as very reasonable for this reason. Every driver is new. The lifespan of the xvx should be 10 years.
Wow! Congrats! I've also owned 3 wilsons, and I trust the brand, there is no doubt you can purchase something without hearing it and KNOW it will be fantastic. Especially with all the advancements, as you point out.

I've not heard it (yet) but I've seen it in person, and the quality of design and construction is second to none. It's insanely beautiful to behold, if you like industrial/modern design.

I'll let you know what I think in a few weeks when I hear it. But I know you'll be happy.

Charles... it’s not every day even a devoted audiophile makes a decision such as this. A Huge Congrats on what will truly be an epic acquisition!

I couldn’t be more happy for you!

Well, thank you so much. My main concern is a measurement issue. But I'm pretty confident of my measurements. I don't feel elated. I'm calm. No regrets. There's still a lot of work to be done. It takes tremendous effort to make a purchase like this and have it turn out favorably. The dealer is so critical. I worry about getting the woofer bins up my stairs but we did it with my Thor. I worry about the setup being correct by my dealer. All these are just natural concerns that one would naturally have. Also, I have a shed that holds the speaker boxes. I hope these will fit in it. Don't know what I'd do if they didn't. No plan B.

All of my wooden speaker crates have been disassembled, and panels numbered. Once done, they stack neatly in very little space.

Thank you Ivan. This has been coming for years. I couldn't believe it when I first saw this speaker. It was love at first sight. I really like my Alexx and there is still a small but real chance I'll be keeping it. Nothing is irrevocable but this has always been the case with my other purchases. It will be cash. No loan or anything like that. Money is a MM fund. I do hope Wilson's supplied data are accurate. The key is that the xvx will set in exactly the identical location of the Alexx, making it 6.22" closer to my ears. Its highest driver will be about 9" higher that a spiked Alexx. It will set on a special mat. I have confirmed that the bottom of the xvx is flat. Again, based on my experience with my Thor, I am not concerned at all about the absence of a spike because there is nothing special about Wilson spikes. Wilson spends its money on the upper modules, decoupling them from the rest of the speaker. The xvx is so heavy, it is not going to move. While not optimum I believe the speaker will work provided Wilson's published specs are accurate and I am sure they are.

It’s always the “kiss of death” when an audiophile breaks out the tape measure.

Congratulations! What a thoughtfully written post and thread. It feels like I am in the room holding one end of the tape measure. I wish you many happy years of listening once all the logistics have been ironed out and there’s nothing left to do but smile and listen.

I love this!! I have a spot at work where I purchased my Maggie 20.7s on my cell. There is a couch out in this atrium - I just dialed up a guy and worked out a deal. Pulled out my credit card as people were walking by ...and done! After thinking about it for 4 years. Lol!

Big congrats! You need to call yourself an audio salon to make this tax deductible!!

Oh... what kind of deal did you get at Walmart???

I am anxious to read how happy you once they are settled in. Do you need to call your structural engineer to certify the room first?
