Las Vegas Grand Prix sh*tshow...

Well, the much-hyped and expensive Las Vegas Grand Prix started off as a veritable sh*tshow. Only 9 minutes into FP1, Carlos Sainz runs over a steel drain cover at >300 kph that does extensive damage to his car's underbody, engine and battery system.





Then, because Sainz will now require a new battery system, he's been penalized...10 seconds on his grid position.

And here's the icing on the cake, because FP2 got started about 5 hours late, after midnight, and now it's the next day, the organizers kicked all of the remaining spectators out of the grandstands that were waiting to watch FP2 once it got underway....



What a sh*show...and, after F1 invested >500 Million into this event.

That’s a bummer especially for the tens of thousands (if not hundreds) in attendance. F1 event is so big, it’s anticipated to bring more economic benefits than the upcoming Super Bowl in Vegas.

Hopefully F1 gets it together.

I didn't get (still) why the start is at 10pm PST? Why not 8pm? So that the Euro folks
don't need to wake up at 5 in the morning? West coast folks have to do that every
single european race! If there is a red flag, and there are big chances that there will
be (at least) one, that could push the race an hour, so that could make it like a 11pm
start, that is brutal for East Coast. I think the start time is big mistake.

Yes. Remember, the FIA is a European-based organization. They want to sell the TV rights to the EU when folks are actually awake so they can charge more for advertising.
