I have it on my Marantz AV8003. I find it good, but I'm not a surround sound guy.

Audyssey definitely works better than trying to calibrate without it. I lost my mic' and tried to hand-calibrate based on my room measurements and speaker position and my surround content never sounded as good as when calibrated with Audyssey. I finally was able to borrow my buddy's mic and run Audyssey and once again, the sound was drastically improved.

I use Audyssey MultEQ XT in my own setup. Everything sounds so much better.
Movies & Music as well.

It's like nothing else that does not have a good intelligent Room EQ in it.

Next is XT32.

* You guys do have the Audyssey Setup Guide from AVS right?

Bob

Lightbulb XT32 and Bass settings ...

Fellow AA Members,

Just as information in regards to running the Audyssey XT32.
My installing AV dealer which is an Authorized Integra Dealer ran the XT32 program on my new set-up for the HT.
That was back a week ago.

This is what I decided after listening to all different types of Movies, Concerts etc.

1st I should I think add this comment that has been made by other users that have ran the XT32.
(The Bass seems to be low)

I watched and listened to Iron Man II on Blu-Ray and the bass was not just like WOW, Awesome and Blew me away sort of thing.
Even so it was "Not" like it was not there.
Just not up to the point of you feeling like this is Bad-Ass sort of thing.

I did decide to listen to it for awhile and not just jumping in and adjusting it immediately.
Thought I would give myself time to evaluate the bass over a period of time with all different programming.
After doing this I decided to go in and adjust the Subs from what the XT32 program had set them.
I went from a -1.5 to a now +1.5 setting.

Then listened to all different Movies, Music etc. with the new settings.
Major difference in the Bass now.
It does have that Wow Factor for sure.
The Bass is not overboard or jacked up so High that is sounds Exaggerated at all.
But it now to me just has the right Sound, Feel that one would expect from 4-Mirage BPS-400 Subs.

Honestly I'm sure I could adjust the Bass even higher but I don't wish for it to be over exaggerated.
This now just seems to be a real good compromise between what the XT32 program set it at and my new adjustments.

I'm mentioning this here for those of you that run the XT32 program and feel like possibly the bass was a little low.
You might want to go into the Receiver/Pre-Amp Processor settings for Audio and adjust the Sub level up a bit.

Note, I do have the Audyssey Great Gramma Isolation pads under all 4 Mirage Subs.

Terry

Terry - Are you using Dynamic EQ when you are watching movies? If you are, and have it set to 0 db offset, you shouldn't need to manually increase your sub levels. Audyssey calibrates your sub level based on reference level volume. If you are listening at a volume less than reference (which most of us normally do), the bass "loudness" will seem less. Dynamic EQ is meant to compensate for that. If you aren't already, give that a try and let me know what you think.

Jeff,

I know of what you speak about the "Dynamic EQ" to compensate for lower listening levels.

In my case if I am correct the THX listening level is 80.
I listen to most everything at 75 and Action Movies at 80.

Don't have children and usually I am the only one in the HT so I prefer to "Crank it-Up" and Feel the Action.

I am also a member over on another well known A/V Internet site and many of those members have also found that running the XT32 gave them lower Bass.
They also have went in and adjusted the Sub/Subs level up like +3 DB.

I don't wish for my bass content to sound exaggerated or just how to say this, To-Much.
With the +1.5 I have it at now it really does seem right on the mark.
You can now feel the Bass and Hear the Bass as IMO you should according to the movie you are watching.
It's certainly not overboard by any stretch.

Oh and as you say most people would not be listening to a THX Reference Level of 80.

I'm just one of those guys that likes to feel like you are right there in the movie.
So with my 123" Screen and me sitting approximately 16' from it and the Audio set at 80 it is a Wonderful all Enveloping "Movie Experience".

My system is just one Bad-Boy for sure and has to be personally experienced to fully be appreciated.

Oh, not bragging here as I am fully aware of the guys on here with the Mega Buck systems but this one I have is pretty darn sweet.

Terry

My motto for audio is to "season to taste." If you like more bass, then turn it up.
