I did read and view everything; not being a fan at all of 3D video, I'm not sure I would like this.

Unlike 3D video you do not have to wear anything and the sound is "holographic" but not in your face the way 3D video can be. Getting rid of the crosstalk makes the music more realistic sounding and will be the best improvment you can make to your system. Once you experience the difference you will be a true believer.

I've heard multiple setups with Polk's SDA technology.

If you can set them up in your correctly, they sound pretty good. The soundstage wraps completely around you and images are well defined, even well out of boundaries of the speakers. But, the speakers need to be placed against the wall with no toe, the listening position must be an equilateral triangle, which usually puts the sweet spot in the middle of the room, and most models require a common ground amp or an isolation transformer connecting the two speakers to each other.

The technology is still used in their surround bars, which again, vary by room and model.

I'm very familiar with their schematics and how they work, when I'm done with my laundry list of DIY projects here, I may try to build a pair using high quality, modern drivers. Maybe incorporate some baffle step compensation so the speakers may be placed a few feet into the room too.

This is a totaly different device from the MEN220. While the MEN220 can adjust the sweet spot it can not get rid of crosstalk between the speakers and reproduce a true 3 dimensional sound stage. The sound stage is still by the speakers ie in the same plane as the speakers. This true stereo system can move the sound all around you . Dan if you come up to Princeton you will be blown away. I guarantee you will be amazed at what he has achieved.

David.......I am not discounting the good professors work, not in the slightest. I don't know if I actually would want sound all around me. From what I read in the paper your link pointed to, the sweet spot isn't really any wider than a well set up pair of stereo speakers in a standard system, and the idea that others can enjoy the sweet spot by sitting in front of and behind you is amusing though totally impractical.

I am sure the Pure Stereo concept is unique. It appears to have mesmerized your attention. I would be interested to experience the effects for curosity's sake, but probably would not embrace the concept in my system.

Mesmerized might be too strong but very impressed , . The music will not go behind you unless that is the way it was recorded. However the way microphones were set up for the recording will be your exact point of reference during the playback. I received a email from Edgar saying he was going to come over to my home and design an individualized filter for my specific set-up and Sonus Faber Ellipsa then use the filter to record a few Hi-Rez tracks that I can listen to on it without any special hardware. The point here being that some day it is possible that one might be able to download a hi resolution track off the internet which will be able to be appreciated without the special hardware. However to enjoy other recordings not made this way then the music needs to go through this filter. Dan I am sure you would do a much better job then me of describing this experience. Since your not ready to get on a plane, I'll see if Serge is around for a demo and let him write his impression. Edgar told me that so far he has not met anyone who has heard true stereo who did not want one.
