Default Upgrading C2300 to C1100?

I've been considering upgrading my C2300 to a C1100 for sometime. The C1100 has got great reviews all around by almost everyone here, especially those who upgraded in a similar fashion. However I love the sound of my current system (601s and Wilson Sashas).

What kind of changes should I expect if I upgrade? In particular I would like to know if the C1100 maintains the same warmth of the C2300 or does it sound more solid state given the lowered noise floor? Any additional feedback is also appreciated.

I have both. The C 1100 is by far the more musical and accurate piece. It is amazingly quiet. It is not warm. It is highly detailed and resolving. It does not sound like a tube preamplifier at all.

Depending on your gear and tastes, the C 1100 might be just perfect. It could also take you away from what you like about your current setup. I have SF Amati Futura's, and my system before the C 1100 was just a tad on the dark side. Now it is just perfect.

Your Sasha's may be loving a little of the tube warmth you get from the C 2300. It is a great preamp.

Hopefully you can find a store that will let you try out the C 1100. I've owned the MC 601's and think they would make beautiful music together.

I have to agree with the others. The C1100 is a great sounding preamp. I haven't regretted replacing my C2300 with it.

Benmoree- on a system as resolving as yours, my thoughts are that you will get a lot of value by upgrading to the C1100. I went from the C2600 to the C1100/D1100 combo and could not be happier with my choice. When I upgraded, I noticed an immediate improvement in noise floor, depth of soundstage, additional "blackness" to the sonic background, and heard new details and nuances with my favorite recordings, especially on things like the decay of instruments and a better sense of the acoustic "space" they are playing in.

I agree with this 100% ....was actually kind of skeptical about hearing a difference as the c2600 is pretty dang good. But immediately all the things Andrew states is accurate.

You will love it.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I'll probably place the order around the Holidays. Just to play it safe I'll hold on to the c2300 in case I want to switch back. If all sounds good as I expect I'll see if I can sale the c2300 and use the proceeds towards a D1100.

See if you can do a home demo of the C1100 the report back your findings . By the way the D1100 sounds great with the C2300 .
