I agree, accu drive is needed to get the best sound from this excellent turntable

Do you have the accu drive? I'm very interested in knowing what improvements can be expected. Thinking about it for my Ovation, but it's a significant investment relative to the cost of the table and I'm wondering if it's worth it.

Regards, Mark

Hello,

I have a Champion Level II; I recently found on some slow piano tracks speed seemed a little bit low.

I've replaced the belt and I've oiled the axis.

I've bought a stroboscopic disc and the Dr Feickert's App for my Iphone with the disc playing a 3150 Hz.

I need help to understand the values I've found:

Mean Frequency: 3154.5 Hz

WOW according to DIN IEC 386
using method 2 sigma: +/- 0.30%
using method dynamic: +/- 0.19%

Raw Frequency:
max deviation (relative): -0.71%/+0.76%
max deviation (absolute): -22.4Hz/+23.9 Hz

Lowpass filtered Frequency:
max deviation (relative): -0.06%/+0.03%
max deviation (absolute): -1.8Hz/+0.8Hz

Thanks in advance.

Georges,

Your average speed is a little bit too high at 3183.4 Hz for 3150 Hz you should find;but for raw frequency it's like the Rega P9 and Audiotecnica, quite good or tolerable imho.

No reply from Avid?

Still no reply but I've been too busy at work to follow-up on the issue.

I've just made a new test after listening to an album. I did it without stopping the table so to avoid the variation from when the table starts.

The results are even better than the Verdier but don't tell that to Jerome

That's what I told you, let the platter turn for a while before measuring...

You can buy an option for the App which will give you the WOW IEC DIN 386, if you want.
