Default 6n6p on Ref3

I would like to try to retub the gain quartet with 6n6p instead of 6h30 on a Reference 3 preamp. It's possible? Has anyone had this experience?

I do not think you can substitute the 6n6p for the 6h30. Before you try it, I suggest that you email your question to ARC customer service. And, in answer to your question about box costs in another thread started by you (now closed for some inexplicable reason), I purchased a new box (without the foam inserts, only the carton itself) for my Ref 5 SE from ARC last summer. It cost me USD175.00.

Thanks a lot for your answers. Without entering into controversy with those who decided to close the topic on the original ARC cartoons and their costs without even giving me an explanation, I can safely say that with a quarter of that cost, anyone builds a bomb-proof one in wood and with the best possible density of foam. The censorship of that topic probably speaks volumes about how some sites are piloted. I wouldn't be surprised if they also closed me knowing that maybe it's possible to use valves that cost one twentieth less than the 6H30DR. However, it is not my problem.

One thing to consider when shipping high value audio equipment is that should there be any damage incurred in shipping, use of original factory packaging may be your salvation. The glass faceplate of my Mac MR80 once got shattered once on its way to Audio Classics for service, and the original packaging helped resolve the insurance claim.

There's no censorship here. There are rules, however, which is part of how this site remains so friendly.

Rules without explaination, otherwise a thread have no reasons to close it.

I sent a polite email to the moderator, asking why the thread was closed, and never received a reply.
