EMM Labs Joins the CD Phase Fray
It looks like Ed Meitner and EMM Labs has joined the "New Filter" fray with their latest CD/SACD Player. Similar to what is used by Meridian and Ayre EMM's new XDS1 player addresses the Pre and Post ringing issues in digital playback. I thought their CDSA unit was darn good but this unit is going to cost about twice as much at $25k. I like that they are using a Esoteric drive which seem to be the best on the market.

A definite step in the right direction. Listening to Ayre often amazed me that familiar to me recordings sounded that much more relaxed and natural. I like EMM but $25k is a bit steep.

Must be a big mark-up on Esoteric Transports.

So now, Ayre, Playback Design, Meridian, and EMM labs are on board the "new filter" game. I'm sure other companies will follow (hint hint McIntosh).

I believe PS Audio with its Powerwave DAC also claims elimination of pre- and post-echo ringing.

Some other companies like Wadia & DCS believe they have addressed the problem with the way they handle the data. How much is marketing??

Probably more than our ears?
