Brinkmann Taurus w/12.1 tonearm

I went down to Hifi Buys yesterday and had a closer look at the Taurus. It's a spectacular table albeit not the most exotic looking but it has it under the hood where it counts. The 12.1 arm is beautiful and easy to operate. They had a Lyra Kleos mounted on the headshell as they were talking me into a Lyra Etna Lambda. Anyway, it sounded remarkable as it should even with the base power supply (I would take a look at the RoNT tube power supply). It's a great table....I still prefer the look of the AMG but the Brinkmann direct drive motor and assembly is awesome in action. We played some records on a D'agostino system with Wilson Audio Alexia 2s and of course it sounded great.

Awesome tables. I actually prefer the look of the Taurus as opposed to the AMG, less bulky to my eye. If it were me contemplating, i would go for the Brinkmann over the AMG especially if I wasn’t reaching for the latest and greatest Forte, it would eventually lead to wanting to upgrade to the Forte sooner or later. Obviously either brinkmann or AMG are world class.

The deed is done, I placed an order for the Brinkmann Taurus, RoNT tube power supply to be paired with a Lyra Etna cartridge. I am so done after this........this is going to be a major upgrade from my current analog front end. Not only that, my Dynavector cartridge needed to be replaced anyway, so that alone is going to improve things dramatically. I can't wait. This is gonna be fun.

BTW: if you are done, and burnt out on audio upgrades I suggest the following;

Break off the crust, and get back in the oven.

Ivan - I hear ya loud and clear, but I'm serious!!! This is gonna be it for quite awhile....I've spent enough on audio gear in the last couple of years. I'm gonna disown all of you audio nuts...I'll be like that guy David that used to post here a long time ago that kicked himself off the forum.

That is, after I post a bunch of new pictures of the system that is.
