Running a new line...

Installing a dedicated line will not isolate it from the noise on the rest of the household system.
You mentioned isolation transformers- those may help.
Keep in mind that most electricians don't know squat about hi-fi. I'm sure there is somebody else with more knowledge of electricity than me who can weigh in on this but:
find out which leg is cleaner and use that;
I did a separate subpanel, which cuts in before the main breaker box;
I have an additional grounding rod;
make sure the lines are correctly phase oriented all the way up.
think about equipment layout, and future reconfiguration possibilities, when you have the outlets placed- far easier to do now, than later;
if you are running a bunch of dedicated lines, don't bundle them together in the routing;
also, think about grounding between the outlets- and here you'll need more input from others- there is a grounding differential between each of my outlets that can reveal itself as 60hz hum over my horn system, which is very efficient (+104db). There are various external 'star' grounding systems for components that work with varying degrees of success and range from cheap to crazy expensive. This is the reason why, at least in the UK, they seem to prefer to run everything from one outlet (but they traditionally weren't running monster power amps over there).

Hi Ivan, while you are online....i have my ARC preamp and oppo attached to a shunyata hydra. The vs115 power amp between the speakers and connected directly to the wall (dedicated run back to the main board and separate run to the wire on the shunyata).

Any view on whether it's better to run a long lead from vs115 to the shunyata or is ok as is? (separate runs) Or does vs115 need it's own conditioner?

Hi everyone, I'm scheduling to put in 2 dedicated 20A lines for my living room system. May I ask what type/brand of in-wall 10/2 wire you use? My electrician is planning on using Romex. Is there different type/brand of wire you'll recommend using? Also, is there different between using 10/2 solid copper vs stranded copper in this application? Thanks guys!

The electrician that installed mine was a Video Buff. I can't remember exactly what this was all about, but he went alternate Breakers in the Fuse Box, something to do with making sure the grounds for both lines were on the same ground line. He did run two completely separate wiring strands all the way from the plugs to the Breaker Box. I know cause I hand Dug the ditch to lay the two separate conduit lines in. I wish I could remember why you alternate the Breakers in the box. Anyways He said never less than 10 Gauge Wire. Damn Me and my Old Memory. Where are them Yellow Stickem Note when you need them.

Glenee.......The reason your electrician connected your dedicated circuits at every other circuit breaker down one side of the panel is to keep those circuits on the same phase. This method helps to reduce the possibility of ground loops. All of my dedicated circuits are on the same phase in my main panel and in my studio panel.

same here and 10awg,electricians don't like it as it's harder to bend than 12awg.
Especially making the hook to go round the receptacle screw even with needle nose pliers.
I run an 8awg line from my main to a sub panel+240v line) which is all 10awg and another 8awg to the front of the room for another 240v Torus.

Yep, That was it Wise One. Now I am going to get the 3M Yellow Sticky Note ( Old People's Version of RAM) even as I type this.
