That I do not. I think your best bet is to call ARC directly explain to them that the folks at Absolute Sound said this is the diagnosis and asking them how you should go about getting a replacement transformer and who their list of certified ARC technicians in your area are. It might cost a tad bit more going through ARC but you get piece of mind that you are getting the exactly right part and their recommendation for who should perform the fix. Sorry to hear that it. Otherwise, I am sure Absolute Sound will be able to advise you on path forward. Good luck!

I bit the bullet & just bought 4 sets of quad for my pair of ref110s. Is the bias still the same at 65mA ?

I was travelling all week, but I finally got the K120s installed. It is a good upgrade. More power, better space between instruments and voices and better detail. All this and they do not even have an hour on them yet. Really impressed.

I have a line on a Ref 5, can't decide to pull the trigger.

I should also mention I spoke to ARC customer service a couple of times while buying the tubes and they could not have been more helpful.

Listened quite a bit last night when the tubes had more hours on them, it is a big change, sounds amazing.

HI All,
Would someone please explain to me all the reports in this thread of higher power? I don't understand.

Here is my thinking. Unless the user is constantly pushing the power limits into borderline clipping of their 6550 amplifier, you have no references. For example, lets say you are using, say, 50% of your power capability. Let's say that is 50 Watts of a 100 Watt rated amplifier at a defined volume control setting for a given volume output from the speakers that is satisfying on peaks.

Now you plug in a set of KT120's and change nothing else, you should get 50 Watts at the same Volume control setting. How can it be said that you are getting more power with the KT120's?

In truth, I'd be very surprised that you push 50 Watts. More likely would be 10 to 20 Watts max.

Are you guy's hearing just what you want to hear?

Sparky
