I lived in London, England for 16 years and spend some time drinking old world wines. Now that I'm back in North America I'm looking to discover some new world wines.

This weekend I had an excellent Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast called Fogdog, 2007 wintage.

It went very well with my mushroom risotto.

Last night, we started with a Cremant d'Alsace (will have to get some photos), moved
on to an '89 Chateau Meyney (with rib eye steak, mushrooms in a pan sauce reduction with a touch of balsamic, and other veggies). Osborne Vintage Oporto, 2000.

Grain alcohol or vodka? I've heard people that use either, but I always thought grain alcohol was the better choice.
