Default Another Upgrade Thread...

So I've read all the previous upgrade threads but I just wanted to verify before I place an order I'm going in the correct direction. Right now I'm running SR Venom 3 PC on my C2300, MCD500 and the stock RGPC cord on a 1200C. My plan would be to install Vipers for C2300 and MC302, a Venom Digital for the MCD500 and Ztron Cobra C19 which I already have for 1200C. How does that sound?

Long range, like 11 months from now I plan on upgrading to all Alphas. The dealer I'm considering offers a 100% trade-up toward new cables. This will make the cost a little less painful.

So just ignore everything I initially wrote. I'm scrapping that plan. I've decided the heck with the baby step upgrade route. I'm just going to go for it. Yep I will in just a few hours place an order with Ivan for a set of Alpha cords. I'm getting one each. A HC, Digital and an Analog all in 1.25M length. I'm going to use a 1M C19 Anaconda Helix for the RGPC 1200C. That should handle the current flow from the wall.

I almost went all Etron Cobra when a fellow member contacted me about one he had but I found that the C15 Cobras are very rare out there. There are plenty of C19 versions but after a call to Shunyata to get a price on retermination that plan was put out to pasture. Because the connectors are potted and the complexity of the wires it cost $330 for retermination. Added to the cost of a good deal on a Cobra and that is almost the cost of a new Alpha. So the new idea was hatched and now is close to be carried out. I'm just waiting for the old paycheck to hit the bank in the wee dark hours and then the funds will be forwarded to Ivan. Definitely an advantage of working 3rd shift. Oh speaking of working I better stop typing and get myself to work.

Oh boy I've paid for my new Alpha PCs! Now I just have to keep myself from running to the front door every time I hear a truck drive by.

Dale

Congratulations on your recent purchase. You have made a wise investment. Based on my own experience, the Alpha PC's are a great value.

Default New Shunyata Alpha cables

Wise choice! I also have a complete loom of Alpha HC's (6) powering my ARC system...amazing stuff. I noticed that you chose to purchase the PC's in 1.25 meter lengths. I've been told that the 1.75 meter standard length will have a higher resale value and is therefore more desirable if and when you decide to sell it. I realize the longer length will cost a tad more. Just a thought. Congratulations!

I keep doing that even when I haven't ordered anything!

Thanks! I chose the 1.25M over the 1.75M because it will fit into my rack better. I was at first going to get the 1.75M because I thought that was the shortest stock length SR offered. I was thrilled when I discovered the 1.25M length. My RGPC 1200C sits right behind my rack and the wall outlet is also just behind it so I don't need the extra length. As to resale value I never factor that in when I buy something. I usually buy to keep for the long term. When do decide to sell something I just get the best sale price I can and consider it new money. This philosophy is why I wouldn't do very well in Real Estate. I really don't see myself upgrading from the Alphas. These are right at a price point that I can live with in relationship to the rest of the system. I'm really trying to get off of the upgrade wagon and that is why I just decided to jump up to these now instead moving up slowly. I still have a couple of upgrades I may do later but for the foreseeable future I think I've got this section cornered.

McPlanar, I've used virtually every power cord Shunyata has made as well as a few other brands and the Alphas represent a real breakthrough. IMHO, they equal or best all of the company's previous power cords but cost substantially less. How many companies manage to do that? If history is any indicator, they will maintain a very solid re-sale value. A friend of mine was just able to upgrade his old Python Helix for the Alpha HC because he managed to sell the Python for $650. That kind of long-range value is rare in consumer electronics. Congratulations on the good investment. BTW, my friend's also an avid planar fan. ;-)

UPDATE!

I got a PM from Ivan that my Alphas had arrived and should be on their way to me. I imagine they'll be on my doorstep by next Friday. At that point I'll start a one week burn-in process.
