c2500?
saw a demo unit at a great price, no box or remote unfortunately. i know some shy away from units with an outdated dac but any issues with the product? like i've hoped for every piece of equipment that has come and gone, would this last me until i'm dead?

All I can say is I love my C2500. I don't use the DAC, but for 2 channel music it is an amazing piece of gear!

Don't worry about the DAC. IF the DAC gets really outdated, simply add an external one.
"would this last me until i'm dead?" Depends upon how old you are

If you liked the sound and the price is good for you, just do it!
Go for it. I LOVE mine, forget about the DAC being outdated in the future. |

Agreed. Treat the DAC as a bonus. If you use it, great. If you find the DAC becomes outdated, just get the latest & greatest DAC and continue to enjoy the C2500 as the fine analog preamp that it is. |

I bought my C2500 new, put several dozen hours on it and was convinced to swap out the stock tubes for Genalex Gold Lions, and I'm really happy with it.
I agree what's been said about using an external DAC, have had a separate unit now for about 2 1/2 years. It seems that DACs are improving at a rapid pace, but not so much with preamps, amps and speakers. As for explaining to your "better half" how you shouldn't need to upgrade, ever, I won't touch that one!
