Default Sticky remote controller

I am very happy with my MA7900 but a bit disappointed on the sticky remote controller. How come such quality component equipped with such substandard controller. Any advice if I can replace it with other remote please? Thanks.

Check out a Harmony 650. Cost about $50 and I have used with a Mac C2300 and Esoteric K03x. Works awesome. Easy to program. If it gets dropped or lost, no big deal.

+1 for the Harmony 650. It confounds me that such fine products as McIntosh are shipped with a third-rate remote that is so sticky it's actually disgusting. The ergonomics of the Harmony are also superior.

+2 For Harmony 650. I never liked the sticky feeling of the older McIntosh remotes.

I too hate the old sticky remotes. I was able to remove most of the stickiness from my MA6600 remote using IPA, Q-tips, and lots of elbow grease. It made a huge difference.

I recently traded the MA6600 in for a C52. I'm happy to report that the C52 came with a much improved and delightfully non-sticky remote.

Sometimes, I think "how could these things happen?". I honestly thought that I was
unlucky enough that my C2200 would get all so sticky even though I don't use it that
much. Now seeing that this is not so rare I feel less unlucky, but boy oh boy, I agree,
the remote shouldn't get this way with time.

Is there anyway to upgrade to the newer remote? Or does McIntosh bang you over the head on the price?

I was also surprise of the poor remote control provided with my C2300. I asked McIntosh support to known if there is a solution. Answer: no.

My feeling is that McIntosh should reconsider this point and provided a modern remote control (as the HR-85). If price good, I'm ready to buy one.

Using the Harmony 700. Always left original remotes new , left in packaging.

Also better resale value when you have original boxes, packing, manual and remote as new.
